Situated directly opposite the beach at Waipu Cove. The Cove is a favourite for an after surf coffee or smoothie and brunch in the sun. We have a playground set up out the back for the kids, which gives parents time out while they enjoy lunch with friends and the restaurant is the perfect spot for dinner in the evening, while you watch the surf.
Owners Lloyd Rooney and Mike Fraser have grown from a single restaurant, The Cove in Waipu Cove, and their beef and sheep farm, Highgate Hill in the Waikato to now include The Quay in Whangarei, The Dune in Mangawhai and Number 8 Whangarei. The farming venture also include our market garden, The Vege Shack, in Maungakaramea which we supply all our Northland restaurants with fresh seasonal produce.
The Great Highgate Trading Company Ltd was formed to manage the restaurant and farming ventures of Lloyd Rooney and Mike Fraser.
